  • Nephrostomy placement (percutaneous nephrostomy): This involves puncturing the skin in the flank area (side of the waist) and inserting a catheter (tube) into the kidney when the kidney is swollen due to urinary tract obstruction.

  • Retrograde ureteral catheterization: This procedure involves placing a catheter into the bladder of patients who cannot urinate.

  • Percutaneous cystostomy: This is the procedure of inserting a bladder catheter by puncturing the skin in the lower abdomen when a catheter cannot be inserted through the normal urinary channel.

  • Bladder instillation: This involves applying medications or other substances into the bladder via a catheter.

  • EMDA (Electromotive Drug Administration): This system creates an electrical field between an electrode within a catheter placed in the bladder and electrodes placed on the abdomen, allowing chemotherapy drugs like Mitomycin-C (or Epirubicin) to penetrate deeper into the bladder wall.

  • Cystoscopy / Cystourethroscopy: Cystoscopy is the endoscopic examination of the urethra and bladder.

  • Percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA): A procedure similar to MESA.
